10 Proud Indian Students To Represent India At ISEF


Bangalore: 10 young innovators are to represent India at the annual Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) in May 2013 in Arizona, U.S.A.

The winning students were from New Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Rourkela and Davangere, and were pre collegers. Chosen from across 111 research based projects, these 10 students were felicitated by Dr. Y. S. Rajan, Chairman, National Board of Accreditation, Dr. D.K. Pandey, Scientist, Department of Science and Technology, Sri. Janardhana Swamy, Member of Parliament, Mr. Ashutosh Chadha, Director, Corporate Affairs Group, Intel South Asia at Initiative for Research & Innovation in Science 2012 (IRIS), one of India’s largest science initiative for students held at Bal Bhawan, New Delhi.

At IRIS 2012, 111 projects were selected from a total of 2036 research-based projects submitted by students from across the country and were evaluated on research merits.

The winners of IRIS are: Akshat Boobna, Amity International School, Saket New Delhi, for Computer Science-- Algorithms to find acoustic properties of a non-ideal room using tone bursts; Khamak Bhargava and Ishani Goomer, Amity International School, Mayur Vihar New Delhi, for Bio-Chemistry-- To develop a test kit for detection of calcium carbide in mangoes; Onkar Singh Gujral, La Martinere for Boys Kolkata, for computer Science-- Reverse data synthesis: Infinite system learning from a finitely large provided data set; M. Yeshwanth, Citizens high school Bangalore, for plant Sciences-- Anti-bacterial activity in leaves of different species of Bauhinia; Jyoti Ranjan Sahoo, D A V Public School Bhubaneswar for medicine and Health Sciences—Eyerinator.
