With the growth of computer, the viruses, worms or botnet to create malware have also increased. At the start virus was created as a prank or for playful purpose but now, it has become a weapon to attack technology and software at the highest level.

Viruses are so powerful today that they can be used to shut down an entire government network like in North Korea and leave them in the dark. So with viruses like this lurking around let’s take a look at them.

Creeper: Considered as one of the first viruses created, the creeper was released ‘in lab’ back in 1970’s by an employee of a company that was building ARPANET.

The virus creeper would look for a machine in a network, which means it could run through various mainframes easily, it would display the message ‘I’m the creeper, catch me if you can!’ and then move on to another machine.

This virus would spread and leave copies of it in programs and machines. The amount of damage it causes is uncertain but it is believed to be more of an annoyance.

Michelangelo: This virus scared  many computer owners. It was created and designed to be active back in 1991 on the 6th of March, on the birthday of the great artist, Michelangelo.

This virus was relayed by media as a strong virus that would take down nearly five million computers but it only affected a few thousand computers. This left the image of the AV Company tainted.
