10 Companies That Use More H-1B Visas

BANGALORE: A blessing in disguise, the H-1B visa has helped companies to import highly skilled and talented workers for greater growth of the company. This visa gives provision for the employee to remain in the U.S. for six years but in case of job loss, the employee needs to acquire any other form of visa or leave the country immediately. This new practice gave companies a chance to bring in skilled workers for a cheaper pay and in doing so lay off American workers who were considered less skilled.

The last fiscal year saw a rise in utilization of the H-1B visa and certain companies were able to make the best use of it. Though the American people have started boycotting this provision, companies still make a good use of the visa, granted by the Immigration and Nationality Act.

TCS: Tata consultancy services have made the best use of the provision by importing over 6100 workers holding the H-1B visa for the fiscal year 2013. Though the number reduced from the number of visa holders in 2012, they still stand as the top company to utilize this provision. A spokesperson from TCS said that the company is dedicated in training new talents and propagating local IT talents and has also been offering training to American students since 2009. TCS has also given jobs to over 5000 workers over the past three years and sees no reason why the H-1B visa is a threat to the U.S. workers in any way.
