Women Entrepreneurs Face Big Gender Gap: Report

BANGALORE:  Do you know Christy Walton, the richest woman in this Universe and far richer than many male business tycoons.  Women have an equal potential, what a money making men can have. But there has been an injustice with women’s capabilities.

Recently a report published by Maria Cantwell, a junior U.S. senator under the title, “21stCentury Barriers to Women’s Entrepreneurship” depicted the significant barriers faced by women in obtaining loans and growing their business as compared to males in U.S.

Surprisingly, the women-owned businesses have driven around $3 trillion economic forces that have sustained over 23 million jobs all over the world. The report revealed that women entrepreneurs yield 1$ out of every $23 in small business lending, although women represent for 30 percent of all small companies, women are let down for loans and at times they receive less favorable terms than men.

In a country like India, females are only concentrated in industries related to education, sanitation and mostly in small scale or cottage industries. On the other hand higher-value industries such as IT, transport, research and development lacks female participation. The primary factors had been poor infrastructure, limited education and social backwardness. But the results are surprising even after the women surpass these primary barriers.
