U.S. Mobile Technology Firm Buys Bangalore Startup

BANGALORE: Act Mobile networks, a U.S. based mobile technology company is buying Colimetrics, a Bangalore-based software startup in an all stock out deal. The two year old Colimetrics has products that help companies increase their employee productivity, reports Economic times.

The deal is called the ‘acqui-hire’ where a company acquires another company to recruit people. All the four people at Colimetrics will join the U.S. based company. Cofounded in 2012 by Pankaj Kulkarni and his colleagues, the four-member team will receive certain number of shares from Act Mobile and the company will continue to operate from Bangalore.

Colimetrics has built a technology product called ‘Key-Mails’, where it uses the artificial intelligence to solve the problem of email over load, by prioritizing the important ones. It has also developed a data analytic engine that digs into employee data and helps increase their productivity.

It was founded by the serial entrepreneur Andrew Foss and former Seagate executive Tim Bush. Act Mobile sells technology to organizations which helps them increase transactions through mobile phones by making it cost effective, faster and secure.

"To pay bills, we did a services project for Act Mobile and they liked our engineering talent," said Kulkarni, who is now vice president for engineering at Act Mobile. "Marketing and sales is difficult to do from India." Kulkarni declined to reveal any more details on the deal.
