The Reverse Pitch: Investors Pitching Startups

Bangalore: The first of its kind in the investment fraternity in India, Investors are going to pitch and sell themselves to entrepreneurs. East Angels and Bangalore Startups, who got inspired by Total Access, Betaworks’ and AOL’s New York VC Demo Day; are working together to put the Reverse Pitch.

A wonderful turn around, the Reverse Pitch will see the Angel Investors and the VC firms on stage and give them up to five minutes to deliver their elevator pitch to entrepreneurs. Sounds interesting! These Angel Investors and VCs need to highlight their strengths and the value that they will bring forward to the table for these startups. The event is scheduled on 28th March at Microsoft Signature Building, Embassy Golf Links, Domlur, Bangalore.

Each investor will be provided with four minutes for demo/pitch, which would include Operational Experience, Ticket Size, Sectors, Investment Venture Partners, India Venture Partners, Inventus Capital Partners, India Innovation Fund, IndoUS Venture Partners, India Venture Partners, Citrix Startup Accelerator, Nirvana Venture, Tempus Capital, and SAIF Partners along with several Angel Investors. The event is being organized by a bunch of entrepreneurs from Bangalore who run the local tech community named Bangalore Startups and local angel community named East Angels, and each one is a part of a startup or running one.

The startup and investment ecosystem is changing rapidly all over the world. With a plethora of block buster success stories and multiple fund cycles, investors have gained immense confidence and experience in this investment instrument. However, to flourish a healthy ecosystem, it is important to have an honest two way communication.

It would be interesting to see the Indian investors embracing this one of its kind of event in India. This might help the dynamic nature of the startups, particularly early stage, to build a more vibrant success story of the Bangalore startup ecosystem. The platform is more transparent where both investors and entrepreneurs, get to see the best among each other develop relationships which can contribute to a very healthy ecosystem.

Such events will bring out more innovation in running the business, be it an idea, operations, marketing, or even social impact. The investors participating in the event were selected on their past experience with entrepreneurs. Seeing an investor pitching for four minutes including Operational Experience, Ticket Size, Sectors, Investment Thesis and Portfolio, the event would also see the entrepreneurs submitting questions for each investors. The organizing team will then select the best one for each investor which will be asked to each investor after the pitch. There will be an informal one-on-one networking between Startups and Investors after the pitch gets over.

This would really be an interesting event that Indian Startup and Investment ecosystem will be witnessing for the first time. It might help the entire fraternity to evolve in a more matured way and be able to guide the companies to better IPOs.
