Tap.me Secures $ 3.2Million For In-Game Mobile Ad Network


Fremont: Tap.me, a mobile ad network focused on monetizing games has raised $3.2 million in venture capital from investors led by Hyde Park Venture Partners. Other investors include I2A Fund, Western Technology Investment, Great Oaks Venture Capital, Firestarter Fund, and Hyde Park Angels.

Co-founded in 2009 by Michael MacDermaid, Chris Carlson, David Ballard this Chicago based startup that is led by Matt Spiegel the CEO, uses technology platform and lets brands advertise within mobile games. It targets brand advertisers who want to get noticed by gamers without interrupting gameplay sessions. It creates contextual and authentic branded “integration points” within web and mobile games. It does that by getting developers to identify something in a game that can be sponsored, like an ability to jump higher. Tap.me then finds advertisers to sponsor that capability. The company also announced three additions to its board of directors: Jeffrey Lapin, the former CEO of Atari; Excelerate Labs’ Yagan; and Stuart Larkins, managing director at I2A.

In October, Tap.Me hired Omnicom Media Group executive Matt Spiegel to be its CEO, taking the reins from  company founder Joshua Hernandez, who is executive vice president and chairman of the board.
