Sunglass.io Raises $1.7 Million In Seed Funding


Fremont: In a seed round of funding, Sunglass.io has raised $1.7 million from investors General Catalyst Partners, Mitch Kapor, Lerer Ventures, Maynard Webb, and several others. The fund will be used towards improving the team’s core product and the underlying infrastructure.

Founded by two TED fellows, Nitin Rao and Kaustuv DeBiswas, Sunglass.io is a web-based collaborative design solution provider. It offers real time interactivity between product designers and architects regardless of their location. The company is a venture-backed MIT startup, based out of San Francisco.

Nitin Rao is the co-founder of Sunglass.io. Prior to this, he was founder at E4SI, Let Me Know and Surathkal Innovation Challenge. He holds an MBA from Massachusetts Institute of Technology- Sloan School of Management, and B.Tech in Information Technology from National Institute of Technology, Karnataka, India.

Kaustuv DeBiswas is the co-founder and CEO of Sunglass.io. Prior to this, he was the Research Associate, Applied Research Group, Bentley Systems. He was also the Lecturer in The Ohio State University. He holds a PhD in Design Computation, Artificial Intelligence in Design from Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Master of Science in Design Computation from Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and Bachelor of Architecture from Jadavpur University.
