Startups Bet On Undergraduate Colleges Over Engineering Colleges


NEW DELHI: Talents emerge from every nook and corner and there is no stopping that. It is for this reason that starups have shifted their attention to undergraduate campuses more than engineering and management schools.

A multitude of startups are on a hiring spree for raw talents, but this time its not the top ones, in fact the Undergraduate colleges like Lady Shri Ram College, Shri Ram College of Commerce and others new hiring ground for startups.

In comparison to last year, they have not only doubled but their average pay, but its  twice as much from the previous year, reports, ET.

The pattern has been followed In Delhi University, Lady Shri Ram College (LSR), Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Hansraj College and Christ University in Bengaluru. Most startups are scouting more in Bengaluru and national capital regions concentrated there, rather than in the east.

In terms of salary, so far the startup at LSR has offered a top salary of 13 lakh(up from 12 lakh a year ago). Hiring is expected to continue till the end of April. These newly established startups are looking for people at junior levels in analysts, marketing and business development. These fresh companies include Axsiom, UTH Connect, Zocalo, Cashkaro, CFBI, Smartican, Foxymoron, Indxx, Papertrue, Inopen, Papertray, Akosha, Oyo Rooms, Truly Madly and O3 Capital.

Boutique investment bank O3 Capital and Gurgaon-based Axsiom, is climbing down the ladder for the first time in an attempt to recruit fresh talents.  They are mainly hiring for profiles in marketing, sales, business development and content writing.

These recruitments illustrate a good setting for young students. It involves a less hierarchical environment with more opportunities for exposure and growth. In addition they receive faster promotions and also reap the benefits of a friendly work environment due to the similar average age of potential colleagues alongside the superior diversity and independence.
