Startups Becoming New Bpo's For Delivery Boys


sdBENGALURU: We all know that e-commerce companies solely depend on their delivery system which is their main goal towards customer satisfaction. Hyper local e-commerce and logistics sector are facing a massive retention challenge, bringing back memories of worker shortage a decade ago in India's BPO sector, according to indiatimes.com.

Most of the delivery conditions in India are harsh, especially during the summer months and in the rainy seasons when the conditions outside are just not suitable for delivery. But many companies try to control attrition by advising theirclients to wait for a day if it's unsuitable for any kind of delivery. Many industry startups face the problem of losing their delivery boys even if the rival company offers them Rs 200 more on their basic salary.

Companies like Zomato, PizzaHut and FoodPanda have added a massive salary jump of over 3,000 from the basic take home in the last 3-4 months, which adds almost to 14,000 salary per head. The riders are also paid extra for fuel cost and timely delivery. Salaries of courier boys have also shot up by 100 percent since two years, when they used to earn an average of Rs 8,000 per month.

This is due to a rise in the e-commerce logistics in the country. The e-commerce logistics space rose over $300 million in the first six months of this year alone. Mean while, the Health and safety of the delivery boys is their first priority. Here, Career progress is also becoming fast and within two years, a delivery boy can graduate to a logistics hub manager with an income of about Rs 35,000 per month.
