Startup: EB Connects Headhunters With Rural Talent

BENGALURU: We often see students in cities being hired by big companies with fat pay checks. Why it is that a corporate doesn’t go beyond metros to hire employees? It is not because these companies are not keen on recruiting talent from smaller towns; it is just that companies find it easier to hire students from larger cities as they are more accessible in all ways.

Employability BridgeEmployability Bridge (EB) is a Chennai based startup that is bridging gaps between corporate and rural students. EB is an internet platform for headhunters to find rural talent and vice versa for the graduates. The internet startup has so far been able to bring 3, 000 jobs to remote colleges across Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

EB website is a medium through which corporate and graduates communicate. It has all the requirements listed ranging from the grades and arrear tolerance, job descriptions, and even the minimum number of applicants they would like. The corporate can shortlist the required candidates from applicants and go on to test and interview.

A mobile app helps companies track the recruitment process. Likewise the entire process was automated, from companies publishing opportunities to sending offer letters to students. Companies were happy with the online test template built by EB. Companies just need to load their own questions and students can take their first round of test. This was a major hit. This allowed the companies to reach out to the rural talent pool.

EB finds jobs in the range of 1.6 lakh to 6 lakh per annum and the number of companies is going up—54 firms across seven cities. The startup plans to expand their network up to the north through a franchising model and create 4, 000 jobs. EB’s latest edition enabled six students get a job with HC technologies at an average salary of 1.6 lakh per annum.

EB's clientele range from manufacturing and IT to retail and consumer Internet companies jostling for talent
