Seedfund Invests $3 Mn in Afaqs


Bangalore: Seedfund, a popular early stage VC fund has made an investment of over $3 million in afaqs, a media communication portal. This deal marks the second round of funding for afaqs from Seedfund and the company plans to use the procured funding to launch three more websites in consumer businesses and existing properties enhancement, reports startupcentral.

Afaqs was established on September 28, 1999 by Sreekant Khandekar and Sandeep Vij and it focuses in marketing communications. It plans to launch the websites by the end of this year, one of the websites would be for lifestyle where as the other two websites are for the consumer facing segment.

Afaqs is also involved in print; it releases a fortnightly magazine and also boasts of having conducted over 35 workshops in the last one year. It has 3 offices in India – Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore and has over 100 employees.

Seedfund has been actively investing in India and its latest investment includes a deal with Innoz Technologies, a Kerala based startup and also Heckyl had raised funds worth $1 million from Seedfund.
