Seed Stage Investments Dominate the Pie Chart: Report

Bangalore: Venture capitalists did the most in their business during the third quarter of the year. Since the dot com boom, this phase has been the most active with venture capital deals flowing in abundance. A recent report released by CB insights claims that $7.5 billion worth – 835 venture capital investments were made in the recent quarter.

Though the seed investment sector has procured all of it, the total investment deal has drastically dropped down from $8.1 billion in the previous quarter and $7.9 billion in the third quarter of 2011 to $7.5 billion.

The report also mentions that if the fourth quarter of the year does not touch the $9.2 billion mark, 2012 would be a down year in terms of attracting and procuring venture capital investment. About 31 percent of all venture capital deals were towards seed funding and it continues to account for a greater share of all venture capital deals.

The seed funding figures has had a magical rise over the last consecutive quarters from 14 percent to 19 percent to 22 percent to 31 percent.  Mobile technology hit five quarter highs for both, dollars invested and number of deals.
