Over $103.25 Million Raised By U.S. Based Indian Startups In Feb
Fremont: February 2012 saw a rising spree in fund raising by the Indian founded started based out of the U.S. The funds raised by these startups from different verticals were around 112 percent more than that in January 2012. In January, they raised over $49 million in several rounds of funding; whereas in February, they raised around $103.25 million.
Where on the one side, the highest amount of fund raised by Indian founded startup in February was by Nivio. Nivio is a desktop virtualization company that raised $21 million. On the other hand Fanzy, a Facebook application startup, raises just $0.5 million in second round of seed funding. Sumo Logic, a next generation log management and analytics company, raised around $15 million in series B round of funding led by several VC firms. RiseSmart, a provider of outplacement solutions, raised $2 million; Flingo, a publisher of Smart TV apps, raised $7 million in series A round of funding from August Capital; Little Black Bag that owns an online shopping and fashion site raised $2.75 million in series A round of funding.
StopTheHacker, a SaaS website security services provider, raised $1.1 million from Runa Capital and Brain NeSmit. The market research company, Lab42 led by Gauri Sharma, raised close to $1 million from Sandox Venture Fund; C3Nano raised $6.7 million from Phoenix Venture Partners and GSR Ventures. C3Nano is a developer of nanomaterial-based transparent conductive film.
The intelligent social networking media advertising company founded by Dilip Venkatachari and Arjun Jayaram raised $6 million from NEA and Presidio Ventures. Another cloud based mobile application platform provider, July Systems founded and led by Rajesh T.S. Reddy raised $15 million from three different VC firms.
Akhtar Jameel founded Wheelz that is a car sharing startup raised $13.7 million from Zipcar. Yet another provider of easy-to-use data analytics, Krossover raised $3.5 million in Angel funding. The New York based cloud computing software provider Mediamorph raised $8 million in funding led by Motorola Mobility and Smedvig Capital.
