Online Gifting Portal Pockets $200,000 in Funding

Bangalore: Indian online gifting portal Badhai.in has grabbed $200,000 in funding from private investors within mere two months of operation. The funds will be used for marketing, PR activities and increasing operational efficiency by developing a Smartphone app, as reported by Dealcurry.

The portal is owned and managed by eInsignia Infosoft and provides services like multi-brand eVoucher that can be easily traded in physical stores for the merchandise one desires. The company was launched in 2011 and has offline business partners like Croma, Lifestyle, Pantaloons, Big Bazaar and ecommerce partners like Flipkart, Inkfruit and Goibibo.

“The site gets about six transactions per day & about 25 unique registrations without spending anything on dedicated marketing. The site needs to enhance its brand image, since it has not managed to get significant number of stores to accept its e-vouchers. Many online companies are now routinely employing the traditional route of mass advertising to jack up their sales. Badhai.in has still not clarified which techniques it will use to spread their brand & utility message,” says Watblog.com about the prospected future concerns of Badhai.in.

Founded in 2011 by Ajay Pandey and Sandeep Debnath, the website operates in the similar patterns of Groupon. The most prominent categories of operation for Badhai.in are lectronics, white goods, apparels, jewellery, beauty, lifestyle products, travel and books. If it can manage to package its product & offer discounts for customers, it can probably land itself into a comfortable niche in the world of e-shopping and gifting.
