Naimish Patel Founded Gridco Nets $8 Million


Fremont: Cambridge based Gridco that develops power management solutions for electric utilities raised $8 million in the venture round of funding from investors, according to an SEC filing.

Founded in 2010 by Naimish Patel, who is also the founder of publicly traded Sycamore Networks, Gridco has earlier raised $12.5 million in series A round of funding last summer which brings the total fund raised till date to $20.5 million. The company is developing what it describes as a new generation of utility-scale power management systems.

Patel is listed as President of Gridco. While the filing does not disclose the investors, among those listed as Gridco’s directors are Ric Fulop, a partner at North Bridge Venture Partners and the co-founder of the publicly traded battery company A123 Systems; Hemant Taneja, Managing Partner at General Catalyst Partners; and Peter Herbert, co-founder of New York based Lux Capital.
