Is Amazon the New E-Com King in India?

BANGALORE: After a devastating ‘Big Billion Day’ Flipkart is now posed with a threat from Amazon.com, another leading e-retailer. Flipkart sadly earned the title of ‘Flopkart’ while trying to conduct a historic sale. Without any hesitation one can say that Flipkart sale was the most highly anticipated shopping event of the year, promising its customers never-before prices and great offers.

Smartly enough, Snapdeal managed to cash in on the opportunity of the Big Billion Day. Snapdeal claims to have earned 600 crore that very day without disappointing its customers, which is an added advantage. It is evident that Flipkart has lost loyalty from large population; people were virtually declaring never to buy from Flipkart again.

Having a workforce of more than 10,000 employees working round-the-clock to ensure that things would go uninterrupted, proved inadequate for Flipkart, which quickly fell behind as the website repeatedly displayed messages like ‘Page not found’ or ‘Out of stock’, causing outright anger among the anticipating crowd of online shoppers. Some of them had even taken the day off from work to avail the ‘Big Day’ opportunities.

Even after a serious apology given to users from Flipkart, it proved unproductive; a very low margin of people accepted that apology. Large populations did not wish to accept the apology as they felt cheated by their favorite e-tailor.
