Indian Entrepreneur's 'ATM' Solution to Nation's Water Crisis

Innovating to a great extent, Sarvajal has set up water ATM’s by operating small reverse-osmosis filtration plants in the northwestern states of India. “In 60 years of existence, India has always had getting clean water to people as the last mile at the top of its list of things to do, we figured that if you put a lot of smart people on this idea, maybe you could come up with a solution,” says Sarvajal CEO Anand Shah.

5 Barriers Hindering Indian Entrepreneurs' Growth

Anand Shah was born and raised in Texas of Indian descent; he completed his graduation from the prestigious Harvard University with a degree in evolutionary biology. He also worked as a teacher in a charter school at Boston and later moved to India after the disturbing 9/11 incident. In India he founded several startups to help the Indian community but later decided that he has to work on something that is more vital and that demands more attention. Based on an idea given by a Stanford university graduate who wanted to do set a milestone in the health sector, Shah picked up the concept and worked hard on the idea to make it a success.  “We found that the single greatest intervention you could make was actually clean water, and nothing else.”
