Hursh Agrawal Co-Founded Branch.com Scoops $2 Million In Seed Round

San Francisco: San Francisco based group blogging startup Branch has partnered with technology systems facilitator The Obvious secured $2 million in its seed round of funding from Lerer Ventures and SV Angels. The round also saw the participation of Rick Webb, Lucas Nelson, David Tisch, and Ryan Freitas. The company would be moving to New York this summer.

The company was founded by Josh Miller, Hursh Agrawal, and Cemre Gungor as a platform for curated discussion among people who are knowledgeable about a particular topic. The company was formerly known as Roundtable but changed its name owing to its partnership with Stone, Williams, and Goldman. Obvious will partner with team of Branch to develop the technology, design, branding, and marketing for the product.

Prior to founding Branch, Agrawal was the Enabler at hachNY.org, a Learning Assistant at NYU College Learning Center, and an Assistant Researcher at NYU Biochemistry Department. While pursuing his degree at NUY, he took a leave of absence to co-found Branch.

Lerer Ventures is a seed stage venture capital firm, which invests in the earliest stages of a startup’s life. Few of its investments include Adapt.ly, Birchbox, Dispatch, Food52, Dailybooth, Group Commerce, Venmo, and Tapad among others.

SV Angel is an angel fund based in the Silicon Valley. It provides network, mentorship, and strategic advice around business development, fund raising, M&A, and other inflection points.
