Google Extends Helping Hand to Indian Startups

Bangalore: Advertising is one of the most powerful communication tool for businesses in each and every sector. Google, being a Search Engine Optimization Company (SEO) whose major source of revenue is through its advertising, also provides many SMEs (Small and Medium Sized Enterprises) the space to use online advertising, reports Pranay Parab from Indian Express.

Vivek Prabhakar, a brand management professional and his wife Shubhra is one of such examples. Vivek and Subhra started their company “Chumbak” in 2009. The company focuses on selling fridge magnets which are not easily available in India. The startup duo travels around the world to buy fridge magnets, among the most popular cheap souvenirs in many countries.

"Google helped us find bobblehead and magnet suppliers. We made a catalogue and sent it to stores. The process took a lot of time and we decided to go online in April 2010. Within six months we began making profits," says Prabhakar.
