Google Acquires Indian Led Startup - Flutter


Bangalore: Google, the multi-billion internet giant has acquired Flutter, a gesture recognition startup. Based and headquartered in San Francisco, the startup was founded by Navneet Dalal and Mehul Nariyawala of Indian origin. Both, Google and Flutter have refrained from disclosing details about the finance involved in the deal, reports TOI.

"Today, we are thrilled to announce that we will be continuing our research at Google. We share Google's passion for 10x thinking, and we're excited to add their rocket fuel to our journey," wrote CEO Navneet Dalal on Flutters’ homepage.

Flutter develops gesture recognition technology that can control popular apps like YouTube, Netflix and Pandora. "We're really impressed by the Flutter team's ability to design new technology based on cutting-edge research. We look forward to supporting and collaborating on their research efforts at Google," said a Google spokesperson to the media.

With this deal, it is speculated that the new technology might find its way to the much hyped and awaited Nexus 5. Flutter has so far received investments from Andreessen Horowitz, NEA, Spring Ventures and Y Combinator.
