Google Acquires Anil Aggarwal Led TxVia

New York: To overcome the trouble with its ambitious mobile payment service Google Wallet, Google has acquired TxVia, a mobile payments technology company, for an undisclosed amount. Anil D. Aggarwal, Chairman and CEO, TxVia, EVP Jonathan Weiner and COO Mile Blandina will join Google as per the deal.

According to the Commerce Blog of Google, it has acquired TxVia to complement its payment capabilities and accelerate innovation towards their full Google Wallet vision. The blog also praises TxVia’s achievements including the management of over 100 million customers and achieving certification with large global payment networks that it has supported since 2008.

TxVia offers an advanced transaction processing technology for emerging payments and financial services, as well as comprehensive supporting services. It enables electronic payments with a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) delivery model. TxVia has partnered with industry’s best known brands, and their leadership team has played an instrumental role in defining the fast-growing prepaid card segment of emerging payments.

As part of the deal, Anil D. Aggarwal, Chairman and CEO of TxVia, is currently handles the Business Development of Payments at Google. TxVia raised over $55 million by top-tier financial technology investors, including Oak Investment Partners, and was ranked among the Top 50 Venture Funded Companies of 2011.

Prior to this, Aggarwal was a Member of the Board at ACCION USA, a U.S. microfinance company. He was also the founder and Chairman of Network Branded Prepaid Card Association, a nonprofit trade association for companies providing network branded prepaid card solutions to consumers, businesses and governments. He also was the CEO of Prepaid Media that created the Prepaid Expo conference and the Paybefore trade publication. Prior to this, Aggarwal was also the CEO and a Board Member at TSYS Prepaid, an institutionally-funded specialty payments processing company. Before that, he was the Chairman and CEO of Clarity Payment Solutions, a payment processor that enabled numerous electronic payments innovations. He also was the Corporate, M&A Lawyer at K&L and CPA at Price Waterhouse. Aggarwal holds a JD, cum laude, concentration in Business Organizations and Finance Law from Boston University School of Law.
