Ballot To Business: Startups That Makes It Big From Elections

BANGALORE: With Lok Sabha elections in fast progress, a few budding firms are making the best use of opportunities, business-wise. These startups have been assisting political parties by providing simplified and structured information about their constituencies, polling booths, voters’ lists and much more. Bangalore based startups, SM Netserv Technologies and Springboard Public Relations have accumulated historical election data from the Election Commission of India to generate an analysis using the information, reports Times of India. The detailed output of the analysis will help political parties to efficiently plan their campaigning and election strategies.

“Data analytics assists candidates to zero in their focus on placers and booths where voters are more favorable for a particular party,” said Kenny Ramanand, founder of Springboard. “We can tell them which booths have delivered in the past, where the margins of defeat have been low in the past and therefore have potential for a change," he added.

In addition to data analytics, social media analysis startups are also churning out big from the elections. The opinion of the public has a great part to play in the elections and these startups are more or less successful in sensing it right. Frrole, a startup in the social media analytics sector has deployed a keen eye to scan social data in real time. Another startup firm, Simplify360 analyses the social media conversations based on factors including awareness, spread, prominence and favourability. The firm has thus scanned through over 35 crore snippets to get into conclusions about the poll.
