Avionics Industry, The Next Big Thing in India: ThoughtFocus


BANGALORE: The mysterious disappearance of MH370 has globally awakened the aerospace community regarding aviation safety concerns.  In such situations, Avionics come to the forefront.

Avionics is derived from a mish-mash of the words "aviation" and "electronics."  It refers to any of the electronic systems inside an aircraft. It control, notify, and manage aircraft, satellites, and spacecraft – which previously been mostly electrical systems, but as time and industry have progressed, they have been merging with software systems on a steadily rising basis.

This sector is becoming attractive in India as several multinationals outsource their work to India. Approximately $6.3B per year, this industry is fast-growing segment that is constantly adopting emerging technologies to cope with both critical and non-critical work.

U.S.-based ThoughtFocus Technologies highlighted the growing opportunity for Indian startups to make a mark in the lucrative avionics sector.

ThoughtFocus with the Rayon Technology acquisition is a product development and engineering of software –safety critical software development for the Avionics industry.

Co-founded by Shylesh Krishnan, the firm gave a light on the recent trends in avionics industry and the role the company plays in this space in India. ThoughtFocus Avionics is tie-up with existing domestic players in the design and development of some of the major electronics systems.

At ThoughtFocus Avionics, R&D in India works with all of the major players in the industry, both on the commercial and the rotor side.
