BANGALORE: Indian startup space has seen many ups and downs since June 2015 amidst the high profile layoffs, flow of funds, acquisitions, slope down of Chinese stock market and much more.

With all the action and the recognition being received by Indian startups on the international level, there have been many mergers and acquisitions in this year. The ecosystem is maturing in India as small ventures are scaling up to big lucrative deals from biggies, reports TOI.

2 Biggest startup acquisitions of the year

Snapdeal's acquisition of FreeCharge marked the biggest deal in the Internet space in India this year. The company was reportedly valued at $400 millon. This big acquisition was followed by that of Unicommerce, provider of multi channel order management software and RupeePower, one-stop personal finance platform in March. The strings of acquisitions included tech startups like MartMobi, LetsGoMo Labs and Reduce Data.

Ola took a lead ahead of others with its one of the strategic acquisitions of TaxiForSure in March. Functions and operations of the acquired cab aggregator were merged in the Ola’s mobile app. This was followed by Ola's acquisition of Geotagg, provider of transportation solutions and Zipcash, mobile voucher for shopping online, paying utility bills and much more.
