500 Startups To Partner With Parker Thompson And Set Up New Offices

Bangalore: 500 Startups will see a new partner as it had been on the verge to announce it this week. Besides, the group is all set to announce its new office in New York and a soon planned out one in San Francisco.

Therefore who has planned to join Dave McClure’s startup accelerator and investment firm is Parker Thompson, former director of business development for Pivotal Labs. According to 500 Startups, Parker Thompson, the latest addition to the team will work with the group’s accelerator program besides helping the firm grow its presence in San Francisco in the future.

Thompson is also known for building dozens of startup products and growing Pivotal Labs as a team from 10 to 150 before the company was acquired in 2012 by EMC. He has also co-founded a social networking company called pre-smartphone and worked at Internet Archive on big data problems before it even existed.

Besides Thompson, George Kellerman, an employee at 500 Startups will also be promoted to partner and Paul Singh, presently the founder and CEO at dashboard will continue working as a partner, as he did before.

500 Startups has always been on the international side of focus. Its addition to opening an office at San Francisco sounds interesting as companies like Airnb and Pinterest are moving up to the city.

In order to continue with the east coast takeover and support, 500 Startup’s office at Manhattan’s Flatiron district will use space to host meet ups, tech talks and parties. For the West Coast, it will be the San Francisco office serving the need.
