Volvo Launches V40 Cross Country Petrol With More Power & Performance


BANGALORE: Sighting great potential for Crossovers in Indian auto market, the Swedish Auto maker has upped the ante for 2015 by unveiling the Petrol version of Volvo V40 Cross Country, which the company claims will now provide customers a more economical driving option, reports CarTrade.com

Priced at 27 lakhs (ex-Mumbai), the petrol version of the V40 Cross Country is about Rs 7 lakhs cheaper than compared to its diesel sibling but undoubtedly it is the most powerful luxury crossover in the segment.

Under the hood, the V40 Cross Country is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged EcoBoost engine sourced from Ford. This engine is capable of producing 185PS at a peak torque of 240NM. Further the car also accelerates to 100kmph in just 8.5 seconds.

Although it’s a FWD the V40 Cross Country can just be All-road, all-weather, all you car, which can comfortably cruse along rugged roads with features like hill-descent control, which uses the braking system to control each wheel’s rotating speed on rough, slippery downhill roads.

Some its other featured include, a 16” Geminus alloys, LED DRLs, Cross Country styled front and rear skid plate, interior air quality control system, dual tone or single tone leather interiors, frameless rear view mirror, Daytime Running LED and much more.

In terms of safety, the Crossover comes with curtain and knee airbags, anti lock braking system, EBD, traction control and electronic stability control, Child safety lock, cruise control, parking assist and rear parking cameras with sensors. Apart from this, the car’s TFT crystal display helps the driver to switch across modes from Elegance, to Eco and Performance driving modes.

The V40 Cross Country petrol competes with the likes of Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1 and Audi Q3. Furthermore, The Swedish carmaker is also planning to launch the V40 hatchback in the Indian car market soon.

Conclusion, the V40 Cross Country petrol has everything that a Volvo vehicle stands for like the looks, Features, Fit and finish, Handling and most importantly top notch design. But the downside could be the Dealer and service network.
