Toyota's Highly-Anticipated 'Innova Crysta' to Ply on Indian Roads

BENGALURU: Toyota’s new generation Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV)—the new Innova Crysta will be available for the Indian customers from May 3, 2016.  With the current Innova launched almost a decade ago, yet successfully managing to sell around 6000 to 6500 units per month, the new version unveiled at the recently held 2016 Auto Expo seems to have a task at hand.

Based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, Crysta can accommodate front, rear and all-wheel drive configurations. The MPV sports a modern and upmarket design which is highlighted in the new grille, side profile and the tailgate, with wrap around tail lights. Among its other features, the interiors provide an interesting mix.

The top variant of the MPV is poised to have a new leather wrapped multi-function steering wheel, TFT instrumental cluster and a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with HDMI connectivity. The updated touchscreen unit would also feature a web browser, Miracast smartphone mirroring system as well as Bluetooth connectivity options. The company has also packed features like Hill Assist control, ABS, EBD and Vehicle Stability control as Standard on the automatic transmission models. Driver, passenger and knee airbag will also be made available as Standard across all the variants of the Crysta.

Crysta comes with Toyota’s new 2GD engine replacing the 2393cc engine. The new motor produces 149PS, which is 49PS more than the previous engine. It will be offered in a five-speed manual transmission as Standard. The bookings for the latest version of the Innova have begun across the country in various dealerships of Toyota at an affordable price of Rs 50,000 only.
