The Billion View Club: 10 Most Viewed Youtube Videos

BANGALORE: YouTube has risen to be the modernized platform for showcasing sheer talented and pure garbage. Without a doubt, both categories serve as entertainment and are doing pretty well when viewers have their curiosity aroused.  None the less, with the millions of videos uploaded every day, there are some, the selected chosen, good or bad, that goes viral and creates a sensation over the web, reports Rolling Stones.

Here we look into the top 10 of most popular artists (for probably all the right reasons… or not) whose videos have received enormous viewership on YouTube

Gangnam Style - Psy

The pop sensational video ‘Gangnam Style’ of Korean rapper Psy took the world by storm. It was the first YouTube video to cross the million marks and to get a billion views. The video ‘Oppa Gangnam Style’ has been viewed more than 1.5 billion times on YouTube, setting a trend among global youth.

Surprisingly, the Guinness World Record has recognized the video as the most “liked” video on YouTube in 2012 and then won the Best Video award at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

Justin Bieber Featuring Ludacris, "Baby"

Justin Bieber’s sensational track “Baby” became the most viewed video in YouTube history when it was released. In 2010, the music video of “Baby” became the top viewed video until Korean rapper PSY released his “Gangnam Style” in 2012, which got billion views so far. However, Bieber’s track crossed 12 billion views on YouTube as of this year.

According to Billboard review, "Those new dance moves he's showing off can only mean one thing: all over the world, tweens' hearts are melting right now."

  Katy Perry, "Roar"

Katy Perry’s jungle queen video sure levels up to stiffen the competition for female artists in the music industry. Sharing the same boat, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry are the only two artists who have entered the Billion View Club, quite a number of times in fact.

Enrique Iglesias Featuring Descemer Bueno and Gente de Zona, "Bailando"

Enrique Iglesias’s two sexy videos for his single "Bailando", definitely sets the mood in. However it’s the Spanish version that gets the heat on as one-third of the views have been drawn from 2014 clip that features Iglesias, Gente de Zona and Descemer Bueno.

Katy Perry Featuring Juicy J, "Dark Horse"

Once again Katy Perry is back again and this time featuring Juicy J, in "Dark Horse". The Egypt-themed video, which stirred a controversy, is quite the innovative depiction of women empowerment, but let’s not get into that.  Furthermore, Perry's character as the powerful Egyptian queen only portrays how fierce she is in the game.

Meghan Trainor, "All about That Bass"

Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass” is a win-win situation for both singer and viewers.

The Number One hit gave this fairly new artist over billion views on YouTube on her debut single. The exposé of a more thoughtful song for youngsters on body image has clearly sent its message across.

Taylor Swift, "Shake It Off"

Taylor Swift probably doesn’t dance all too well, but when it comes to criticism she can ‘shake it off’ even better. Baring that optimism, Swift takes on all kinds of dance moves she can possibly find and while we prefer not commenting on the performance free-spirited video turned out to be the first single of her total pop crossover album 1989.

Bruno Mars, "Uptown Funk"

This throwback jam of Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars is probably the grooviest video we’ve seen in recent times. Moreover, Uptown Funk" spent a vacation of 31 weeks in the Top 10 on Billboard's Hot 100.

Taylor Swift, "Blank Space"

"Bad Blood" may have stolen the spotlight for the 2015 MTV VMAs but its Blank Space that bagged a seat in Top 3 most-viewed YouTube videos. The Swift self-parody of the labels "crazy girlfriend" that often points at her is nothing but sheer entertainment.

Wiz Khalifa Featuring Charlie Puth, "See You Again"

Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth's ballad "See You Again" is an emotional theme song that commemorates the late Paul Walker in the seventh installment of the Fast & the Furious franchise. Hence naturally, the single soared as the most viewed videos with just 184 days ant the most streamed song on Spotify within the first day of its release.
