TVS-BMW G 310 R Revealed; India Launch in Early 2016


BENGALURU: BMW Motorrad unveiled the BMW G 310 R, a 313 cc street stunt motorcycle that will soon be seen on the roads in India. The price is expected to be 2 lakhs for this TVS partnered BMW bike, which will be competing with the new releases KTM Duke twins, the Mahindra Mojo and the Kawasaki Z250, reports Cartoq.

The BMW Concept Stunt G 310 has everything to be a street stunt bike. It has got the newly developed 1.0-cylinder engine that allows compact proportions. The cylinder is placed towards the rear and rotates by 180 degrees, which permits optimum placement of the engine allowing better handling.

The modification which the bike has is a lockable throttle that ensures constant acceleration even when the rider’s hand has to let go of the throttle grip. The altered gear ratio secures instant power to the rear wheels at low engine speeds and the over-sized rear wheel brake ensures reliable deceleration in every situation.

The bike is powered by a 313 cc liquid cooled, fuel injected four stroke DOHC engine with 34 Bhp and 28 Nm on tap. It comes with a 6 speed manual gearbox is standard and the RPM levels at which the peak power (9,500 rpm) and torque (7,500 rpm) are produced are clear indicators.

The upside down forks handles the suspension of the bike and the disc brakes are standard on both wheels, with a 300 mm disc and 4 pot front calipers at the front, and a 240 mm disc and 2 pot rear calipers at the rear.

The motorcycle weighs 158.5 Kg and has a 781 mm saddle height, which comes with 17 inch alloy Metzeler tyre wheels at the front and rear of the bike. The bike is being sold as a beginners bike in Europe where as it will be introduced as a premium motorcycle for BMW Motorrad in India. A lower priced, TVS branded motorcycle based on the G 310 R will also make its India debut in February 2016.
