Revised Ford EcoSport Model to Hit the Market in 2017

BENGALURU: The Ford Ecosport still prevails to be popular in India since 2013; recently Ford modified and revamped the Ecosport with a more powerful diesel engine.  As seen in the spyshots, Ford has started testing the 2017 Ford EcoSport (facelift) model, the European version of Ford Ecosport was updated last year and the South American and Indian-spec version is likely to receive a major facelift soon.

The image from spyshots reveals a few changes on the outside and inside design that includes a new headlight cluster similar to that of the2016 Ford Endeavour’s headlight and a new interior with a new instrument panel.  The front part is covered, as seen in the spyshots that means there would be new enhancements coming over SUV’s front styling.

There’s a digital display between the tachometer and speedometer that features neon blue illuminated dials. Unlike the European version, the spare wheel will continue to be externally mounted. The latest exterior design of the model is inspired from the Ford edge.

Ecosport that is making its way in 2017 has received modified head lamps and tail-lamps, a hexagonal grille, and bumpers along with new-design alloy wheels.  At the rear, the taillight graphics have also been tweaked with some inspiration from the Edge. Considering the interior of the model, the new steering wheel and instrument panel fetches some reflection of the Edge. The Ford SYNC infotainment system gets a new color display. Dashboard is barely changed and is similar to the current car version that is currently running in India.

The Ford EcoSport will continue to offer the same engine consisting of 123 hp 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol, 110 hp 1.5-litres Ti-VCT petrol and 1.5-litre TDCi diesel.  Ford will shift the EcoSport's export model from its Chennai plant to its facility in Craiova, Romania. Approximately Rs 1,530 crore has been invested by the carmaker in the Romanian plant from where the face lifted EcoSport will roll out for its international launch.

The driving dynamics are said to have been improved due to revisions to the entire suspension set-up after significant testing. These revisions include changes in the springs, dampers, rear torsion beam, electronic stability and electronic power assisted steering settings.
