Path Breaking Technology To Drive Cars At CES 2014

Bangalore: Henry Ford, the visionary himself once exclaimed, “If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.” He simply meant that, technology and innovation is something that you don’t take opinions to implement, they happen and mankind must simply let the process sway.  One such event where the entire world unites to applaud and accolade innovators is CES (Consumer Electronic Show). The event, known for its exhilarating atmosphere created through the display of highly un-imaginable technological innovations often steals the show. But this time for a difference, the automotive sector seems to be in the forefront.

This year, CES comes with a lot of hope and hype focusing on fully automatic cars and improved sensors and controls like never before. Audi, the German manufacturer is set to showcase its masterpiece, A7, a fully fit tested version of its Piloted Driving feature that was in the making for quite some time. With adaptive cruise controls, the car promises to drive the commuter safely with just a push of a button while the rest of the activites that include controlling, directing, applying brakes and detecting danger ahead or on the sides is all done by a small computer discretely fitted behind the panel in the cargo area. Unlike Google’s autonomous cars, all the sensors and radars in A7 are moulded within its body giving it an ingenious charm.

Meanwhile, other players in the industry are also stepping forward to be a part of the race by teaming up with technological innovators to improve the whole process of car manufacturing. Also, It was announced that GM Motors, Honda and Audi will be partnering with Google to produce android powered cars.

Interestingly, it is just not Google that is thinking out-of-the-box; other technology experts like Apple, Microsoft are also keeping a tab on the pace of the automotive sector to embed technology into driving and to simplify the entire process. The event will also see Mercedes Benz partnering with Pebble, a smart watch company to integrate vehicle data and navigation information to the smart watch.

The ambiguous performance of the automotive sector, especially the car industry in 2013 had alerted technology entrepreneurs and industrialists to tie up and to ensure the performance of the industry remains fueled and powered along with keeping up the promise given to the world – Making driving safer and easier than ever before.
