Oriental Research Institute, Mysuru:

The Oriental Research Institute collects, exhibits, edits and publishes rare manuscripts in Sanskrit written in various scripts. Earlier this institute was known as the Oriental Library and was started in 1891 on the orders of His Highness Chamarajendra Wadiyar X, the then Maharaja of Mysore Kingdom. The library features rare collections such as the Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics by James Hastings, A Vedic Concordance by Maurice Bloomfield, and critical editions of the Ramayana and Mahabharata. It was the first public library in Mysore city for research and editing of manuscripts.

Kukkarahalli Lake, Mysuru:

The Kukkarahalli Lake is Located in Mysuru University Campus which has inspired many local poets and writers. The views from the north shore is particularly attractive with the lake and its surrounding trees, the spire of the deputy commissioner's offices rising above them and the low rise of the Chamundi Hill in the background. This lake is home to more than 180 species of birds, some of them aquatic. During the migratory season the lake plays host to a variety of winged visitors, some from as far as Siberia.
