Charlie Chaplin

Charlie Chaplin was the epitome of cinema in the silent era. He was born in London, England on April 16, 1889, and learned about life the hard way, before rising to fame with his epic movies.Chaplin’s childhood was filled with hardships.

 His father was a heavy drinker and left his mother along with his brother and him with nothing. His mother, a music hall singer tried to earn a living to keep the children up until she suffered from severe mental problems and had to be sent to an asylum.

In 1915, his movie ‘The Tramp’ came and became very popular. By early 1920s, Chaplin produced and directed his own movies as he established his working studio, ‘Chaplin Studio and United Artists in 1819. Later, with epic movies like , ‘The Kid’, ‘The Gold Rush’, ‘City Lights’, ‘Modern Times’ and ‘The Great Dictator’, catapulted him into the limelight and made him a public figure.
