Maruti Suzuki Ignis to be Launched in India in January 2017


BENGALURU: Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its subcompact crossover- Maruti Suzuki Ignis. It is expected to be introduced on 13th January 2017 in India. The car that was displayed at Auto Expo 2016 is the third vehicle to be sold through Nexa dealerships after Cross and Baleno.

According to the Nexa website, the new Maruti Suzuki Ignis is expected to draw power from the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine options, while coupled with 5-speed manual and an automatic transmission.

The latest model of Ignis comes with smart design and the retro-inspired boxy profile. The cross over gets an elegant front profile with wide grille and imposing bumper. It also sports squared headlamps with LED DRLs and projector lights. In addition to that, Ignis has got accentuated wheel arches and angular styling on sides.

The car also sports whole new interior, like controls, switches, knobs, steering wheel, instrument cluster, seats and much more. Along with that, it also consist a touch screen infotainment system that will come equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Similar to all the cars eve Ignis has got standard driver side airbag.

The Maruti Suzuki Ignis was initially expected to be introduced in 2016 calendar year; however, due to some reason, the company had to postpone the launch to 2017. 

Additionally, Maruti Suzuki Ignis comprises 1.3-litre DDIS engine from the Baleno, powered with 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. A version fitted with the new 1.0 BoosterJet turbocharged petrol may also be introduced by Ignis upon its market arrival.
