# Lonar Crater, Maharashtra

Located at Buldana district of Maharashtra, the Lonar Crater is believed to have been formed when a meteorite crashed into the earth about 50,000 years ago. The place is now home to a variety of wildlife species like peafowl, chinkara and lot of other migratory birds.

The lake formed inside the Lonar crater region is highly salty and winter season is the best time to visit the place when the weather is pleasant. The accommodation is small in this place except for a few budget hotels and the MTDC tourist complex.
