India's 5 Most Fuel Efficient Hatchbacks


Bangalore: For the past couple of years, Indian automobile market has achieved a special consideration among automobile manufacturers as it has been regarded as the most fruitful and rewarding automobile marketplace, especially for hatchbacks.  In India, hatchback cars are considered as an average man’s automobile, and it is also the segment where cars get a steady makeover, along with newer versions constantly being added to the list.

#1 TATA NANO 2012:

Certainly the most fuel efficient hatch of the country- the Tata Nano is the smallest and cheapest hatchback available across Indian automobile market. Tag lined as ‘the World’s Cheapest Car’, Tata introduced this hatchback in the year 2009. The latest version was introduced into the market this year, named as Tata Nano 2012. This model comprised mainly of new and exciting features as Tata gave the car a bit more luxurious feel to its interiors and launched the vehicle tagged within the same price as before.

Engine and Mileage:

Taking about the engine of the car, 2012 Tata Nano comes with a powerful petrol engine with displacement of 624 cc. The engine churns out a good amount of 38 PS of power instead of 35 PS along with 51 Nm of torque, which was 48 Nm in the previous model. The engine is highly fuel efficient and delivers a whopping mileage of 25.4 km per litre, which was 23.6 km per litre in the previous variant. Tata Motors have worked extra hard to boost up the mileage, which in turn ensures that new Tata Nano has the lowest CO2 emission when compared to other cars in the Indian market.

Price:

Price is one of the most important factors that determine the future of a hatchback and when it comes to the Nano, it’s just amazing. With a price tag starting from Rs 1.41 to Rs 2.13 lakh is pretty impressive for such compact sized, extreme hatchback.
