You may have visited or seen a Hindu deity temple, commonly found all over the country. But, interestingly, there are some amazing and unusual temples that are famous among the masses for their unlike idols, beliefs and customs. Here are 10 peculiar, strange temples in India:

1) Om Banna Shrine – Bullet 350cc Motorcycle Temple, Jodhpur, Rajasthan

Om Banna or Bullet Baba is a shrine near Jodhpur, Rajasthan. It is located in a village named Chotilal about 50 km from Jodhpur. Devotees numbering hundreds turn up each day to pray for a safe journey and make an offering of liquor.

Sri Om Singh Rathore was the son of a village headman. In 1991, he was killed in an accident while driving his motorcycle. The motorcycle was seized by local police and was taken to the police station, but was found next morning at the accident spot.

The bike taken back and this time secured with chains, but it returned to the same spot next morning again. To honor this miracle the bike is now a temple.

2) Kal Bhairav Nath Temple, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh

Kal Bhairav Nath is the guardian deity of the city of Ujjain. This temple was built by Marathas. The temple is well known for its deity who gobbles alcohol. The main offering to the Kal Bhairav is alcohol and it’s the only Prasad given to the devotees.

Although there are several deities across the country that are appeased with alcohol, but only Kal Bhairav is supposed to be endowed with the Mysterious powers of drinking the liquor. The deity drinks a quarter bottle of liquor in a couple of minutes.
