Hyundai Re-enters the Market with its Sixth generation of Elantra


BENGALURU: Hyundai finally enters the market this year with intent to establish supremacy in India's D-segment and to compete with Chevrolet Cruze, the Volkswagen Jetta, the Skoda Octavia, and the Toyota Corolla Altis. The featured car, this year is the sixth generation Elantra. An introductory price of Rs 12.99 lakh has been labeled by Hyundai for the base petrol variant, while the top-spec diesel automatic version is expected to be price at Rs 19.19 lakh. However, these introductory prices will last only upto Decemebr, this year. “We already have attained significant market share in the SUV segment. With Elantra we will further strengthen our market shares in the country," remarks Y K Koo, MD and CEO, Hyundai Motor India.

The newest sedan model form Hyundai shall look completely different from its predecessors, owing to the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language introduced by the Korean carmaker. The new model is wider and longer than the previous versions, and the interiors feature- plush leather upholstery. The crisper lines and sharp headlamps on the automobile give it a defining look. The newest version of Elantra is packed with wide range of features, such as dual-zone climate control, electric seats coupled with front ventilation, and an amazing 8-inch touch-screen infotainment system. The vehicle is powered by an all-new 2.0-litre petrol powerplant, rated at 152PS and 186.32Nm. The transformation option on the new sedan comes with a combination of 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Hyundai has an extremely popular customer base in India. 13 percent of the total global sales can be accounted to businesses made by Hyundai Motor India. In India, 17.1 percent of the passenger vehicle segment falls within Hyundai’s market share. Moreover, since the very launch of the first ever Elantra, back in 1990, the company has successfully sold 11.5 million units of the automobile. Koo adds, "The all new Elantra is the global bestseller and has set forth new standards in its every generation."
