Roopkund Lake, Uttarakhand

Located in Uttarakhand at a height of 5,029 meters, this lake is also known as Mystery Lake or the Lake of Skeletons. This spot made its name as a mysterious and strange place because more than 600 human skeletons have been discovered from this lake. It is still unknown that of whom these skeletons belong to. Archaeologists performed carbon dating on the skeletons and came to a conclusion that the bodies are dated back to 850 AD of pilgrims and locals.
