Car of the Week: New Ford Figo


Bangalore: Ford’s super-successful hatchback Figo was launched in 2010, offering a good value for money to customers. The car has worked miracles for the American automaker in India, by winning multiple “Car of the Year” titles and vastly gaining customers. It has prompted Ford to look into the Indian market more seriously. Even after two years without any major updates, the car is still a favorite of the hatchback lovers. But as the competition in this tight packed segment is getting fierce, Ford has finally updated the vehicle to keep things fresh. Even though the update is minor, Ford claims the new Ford Figo has close to 100 changes.

Engine:

The new Ford Figo uses the same set of engines as before. The petrol variant has 1.2-litre Duratec engine which produces maximum 71 PS of power at 6250 RPM and 102 Nm torque at 4000 RPM. The people’s favorite, 1.4-litre DuraTorq diesel engine is a star. At 4000 RPM, the1399 cc engine churns out 69 PS of power and 160 Nm of torque at 2000 RPM. Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Due to an improved engine calibration, the new Figo claims to have better performance, pickup and pedal response. Even though the figures look low in comparison to rivals, the renowned engine offers one of the best drive-ability in the segment which never makes you feel low in power.
