Bangalore: General Motors India launched premium hatchback Chevrolet Sail U-VA in Bangalore. It will replace the Aveo U-VA and will be available in four variants in 1.2 litre petrol and three options in 1.3 litre diesel.

"The Sail U-VA is a strong edition to our small car portfolio. With the market preferring bigger cars in the compact segment, with Sail U-VA we are able to balance our presence in the segment along with Beat," General Motors India President and MD Lowell Paddock, who hopes it to have the best selling model in the country told reporters.

Performance

The 1.2 litre engine enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 12.9 seconds while the 1.4 litre engine takes 11.9 seconds for the same sprint. It has been designed with a light weight material to increase the mileage. In addition to that, the engines are mated with the Variable Geometry Intake System (VGIS) for better power delivery and torque at any speed.

Engine

It comes with two engine options; one with 1.2 litre S-TEC II and the other 1.4 litre S-TEC III. It comes fitted with 5 speed manual transmission.

Power

1.2 litre S-TEC II can produce a top power of 53.1 kW/L and the 1.4 litre S-TEC III develops a higher power of 54.3 kW/L. The power of the engine results in agile acceleration that is 12.9 seconds for 1.2 L engine and 11.9 seconds for 1.4 L engine where the 0-100 kmph sprint is concerned.
