BENGALURU: Cancer, a disease that plagues the world today. A fatal disease that systematically kills a person and in worst scenarios the patient’s vegetative state is pitiable. Cancer did not spare the athlete who is in the best shapes of life. Every year, Sports world loses ace athletes and noteworthy personalities to cancer.

In the memory of Stuart Scott, a true star of ESPN Sports Center who was taken away from us far too soon in January 2015, here are some of our favorite sports persons who lived through their battles with the dreadful disease. # John Lester: MLB Pitcher (2006- Present):

John LesterThe then Boston Sox Pitcher was diagnosed with the tricky disease that took over Lester in the form of a sore back. In the summer of 2006 it was confirmed that Lester was suffering from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Lester attended to the sore at the natal phase and rightly so it was a treatable lymph node cancer. Things moved on smooth for him as he returned to the mound in the following season in 2007. Lester is a two time World Series Champion.
