Take a look at some of the amazing underwater statues around the world.

1. Christ Of The Abyss, Italy

Even though there are many replicas, the original Christ of the Abyss is immersed in the waters of San Fruttuoso, located around 15 meters under the sea. The idea of placing this statue was at the initiative of a renowned Italian diver Duilio Marcante who wanted to lay a statue of Jesus following the death of his friend Gonzatti. The bronze statue was built by the sculptor Guido Galletti, with its arms raised upwards as a sign of invocation. The 2.5 meters tall statue was recently restored for preserving it from corrosion and fouling and to reattach a hand that had been detached. Later it was repaired and returned to the sea.
