After G310R, TVS-BMW in Talks to Develop a Sub-500cc Bike


BENGALURU: The market for super bikes in India expanded significantly compared to last year. According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, the sales of bikes with engine capacity of 500cc and above is nearly three times greater compared to the last year’s sales. The figures clearly indicate the increasing rate obsession among the Indian population over owning the super bikes, as reported by the Live Mint.

By sensing the latest developments, the two major manufacturers of the automobile industry are now planning to come up with a super bike. Yes! You heard it right, the global auto giant BMW and the indigenous bike maker TVS are now in talks to develop a super bike of 600 cc.

Similarly, the bike is expected to equip with the twin cylinder engine and might be tagged around 5-6 lakh. Nevertheless, both the companies have denied commenting on the latest development and the official news is expected anytime soon.

Proceeding to the latest news, the duo had earlier announced to manufacture G310R under the Make in India project and the latest news hit the Indian auto industry even before the launch of G310R. Relatively, the respective bike is a sub-500cc motorcycle with a single cylinder and the technology is said to be taken from the German plant of the BMW and assembled in the Hosur plant of the TVS.  Further, the alliance has announced to export the bike all over the world form India with words ‘Made in India’ engraved on it.

As consequence of the news, the TVS motors is expect see a rapid rise in the share market.
