But the scenario doesn’t stop car manufacturers to launch cars, either developed especially for Indian buyers or tailored to suit the country’s roads. In fact, some of these cars got unbelievable bookings in the first few days of launch and broke records. Ford EcoSport: The latest addition to the compact SUV segment is the sporty looking Ecosport from the ford stable. The urban SUV is the highest among the list that managed to bag record bookings of 30,000 in just 17 days from its launch. And, since then the Ecosport has beefed up fords sales with long waiting periods. The EcoSport with five seat configuration competes mainly with the Renault Duster in the compact SUV segment. The all-new car is a global model that is manufactured at the Ford’s Chennai facility and is on sale in Europe, China and few Latin American countries. The sub-four metre compact crossover is available with two petrol engines and one diesel mill. The award winning Ecoboost engine comes with a 1.5-litre engine that churns out 123PS and 170Nm of torque. The diesel engine comes with a 1.5-litre oil burner that produces 89PS and 204 Nm of torque and has been sourced from the Fiesta sedan.
