Much before the Ertiga, the MPV segment was very much dominated by the Toyota Innova with its powerful diesel engine and class leading space for the passengers.  

With not being much of a leader on the mileage side, the Innova manages to give around 12.99 Kmpl from a 2.5 liter D-4D turbo diesel motor churning out 100 Bhp with 200 Nm of torque.

It uses the ladder frame chassis and rear wheel drive layout adding some weight to this MPV, yet manages to sell the most based on the reliability and the company’s reputation.

# Honda Mobilio

Ranked as one of the most fuel efficient MPVs in India, the Honda Mobilio brings in an all-aluminium 1.5 liter i-DTEC turbo diesel engine giving out 98.6 Bhp with 200 Nm of torque. Though the MPV delivers a good mileage of 24.5 Kmpl, it hasn’t had good sales numbers pitching in from the time of its release.

The Mobilio also comes with a 1.5 liter i-VTEC engine churning out 117 BHP with a max torque of 145 Nm. As far as the power is concerned, it rules the MPV category compared to others in the list.
