Amazing Display of Sports in the RIO 2016 OLYMPICS, Here's a Highlight if You Have Missed


BENGALURU: The XXXI edition of Rio Olympics, 2016 had an outbreak in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil stretching from 5th August to 21st August 2016. The Olympics which headed for 17 days witnessed some of the most brilliant presentation of sports performed by 11,000 athletes from over 207 National Olympic Committees. The event featured 28 Olympic sports and was spread across 33 venues in the city. Like every Olympics, this time also many results outclassed other and entered into the record book.

According to the First post- Sports, here are the lists of all new record breakers at the Rio Olympics 2016.

In the sport of Athletics Men, 3000 Steeplechase, Conseslus Kipruto, Kenya, won by 8:03.28, replacing the previous record of Julius Kariuk’s 8:05.51 of the year 1988. In the event shot-put Ryan Crouser, United States broke the record of Ulf Timmermann with 22.52 against previous 22.47. In Pole Vault, Thiago Braz da Silva from Brazil won against Renaud Lavillenie of France with 6.03.

Looking at Athletics Women 5000 metres, Vivian Jepkemoi Cheruiyot of Kenya completed her race within 14:26.17 time frame, breaking the previous record of 14:40.79.

Heading towards the Track events, Men, in cycling sprint, Jason Kenny from Britain beat his own previous world record within the time frame of 9.551 as compared to 9.713 in 2012. In Omnium race the new record was set by Lasse Norman Hansen beating Bradley Wiggins, finishing the race by 4:14.982. In the team sprint Britain decided to tweak their record with the new one finishing the race by 42.440 compared to 42.600 in the year 2012.

In women’s segment sprint, Rebecca James claimed the new record in 10.721 minutes by breaking the old 10.724 time that was set in August, 2012.

The Modern Pentathlon Men record was taken over by Alexander Lesun of Russia with overall points of 1479. Looking at the combined shooting, Woongtae Jun from South Korea set the record on 20th August completing the game in 11:02.50 timeframe.
