India equals France in 1960 Olympics: This was the second time for Indian football team to enter the Olympics, which was held in Rome. India was listed in the group which consisted of Hungary, France and Peru. In the first game, Hungary seemed easily sliding towards victory, with 2-0 lead against India, till Tulsidas Balram scored a splendid goal to finish the game with the decent loss.

In the next game against France, the Indian team delivered their top performance. The game went on with no score till the fabled PK Banerjee scored in the 71st minute, however Gerard Coincon scored a quick recovery goal in the 82nd minute and the score was equal by the end of the game.

1962 Asian games: The Asian Games 1962 was held in Jakarta, Indonesia. 8 International teams participated in the football tournament. India reached finals by thrashing South Vietnam for a 3-2 victory. In finals India encountered South Korea, PK Banerjee scored the first goal in the 17th minute and J Sing scored the next goal in the 20th minute, this confirmed the Indian victory. Nevertheless, Cha Tea-Sung scored in the 85th minute of the game, but it did not change the course of the game.
