Will Digital India Succeed In Implementation As It Was Projected?

BENGALURU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project Digital India (DI) is expected to bring good amount of changes in our gradually economy since the aim of DI is to unite the nation digitally. In the next 18 months many cities, towns and villages are likely to get broad band connection, whereas 42, 000 thousand villages don’t have mobile signals till today, reports Business Insider.

Other ambitious projects like Make in India, Skill India, Smart and Amrut cities are projected to change the complete phase our country and improve the living standards of the country’s population. But can they be successful without connectivity? Moreover DI could be a major blow to corruption, which has been the major concern of country since independence.

Unavoidable fact is that 1.2 billion people in India are yet to access social media site regularly and are of out e-commerce. Subsequently out of 300 million Internet users, only 75 million have broadband connection, which brings us to the conclusion that most Indian population still relies on mobile connection which run on 2G though we have 4G. Anyhow most of the broadband users are provided with 512 KB speed which also lags behind in consistent connectivity

To overcome all the present challenges in digital connectivity through DI, the Indian Government has initially planned to create free WiFi hotspots to connect 2, 50, 000 panchayats via National Optic Fiber Network (NONF). But, is implementation going to be as effective as it was projected? And will bureaucracy meet deadlines by achieving complete connectivity?
